LSBS Lift station Biotechnology System

•Grease and oil deposits often clog lift station pump units.
•A clogged pump unit means costly periodic maintenance or replacement.

•The large volume of water transported through a lift station makes any problem a critical one.

Environmental Biotech's Lift station Biotechnology System employs the power of live, vegetative, naturally-occurring bacteria to prevent grease and oil build-up in lift stations and the resultant problems. The LSBS keeps pumps operating efficiently and water slowing smoothly.

On August 18, 1992 an LSBS program was initiated by Environmental Biotech of the Suncoast. The goal of the project was to correct a severe grease problem occurring in a lift station operated by Gulf Coast Water and Waste in Englewood, FL.

Four restaurants and a retirement community discharge into this lift station, which then flowed into a small wastewater treatment plant for final processing. The lift station was pumping an average of 18,000 to 22,000 gallons per day through the system. The specific problem at this lift station was grease and oil accumulation on the float switches and internal compartment walls.

A service cycle of every two weeks was determined and implemented for the site.

The system was in place from August 18, 1992 through September 29, 1992. Based upon the results achieved during this program, a distinct improvement can be seen in the degree of grease and oil accumulation on the float switches and internal chamber walls of the lift station.
